6 Self Care Goals for 2026

6 Self Care Goals for 2026

New Year’s Resolutions are challenging in and of themselves. Let alone living in New York City with three teens! Something my family and I always think is a great way to make positive changes and improve both physical health and mental health in the upcoming year is to set very attainable goals. Breaking a tough habit can be difficult, but only good things can come out of it. A few of the best ways to reach a good goal or new year resolutions are to pick up a new hobby, put the technology down at the dinner table, get a gratitude journal, start positive self-talk, take vitamins and stick to physical activity that will make you feel good. I really feel like the best year is upon us and there are so many new things in store for an amazing year of growth.

Healthy habits can begin with small steps! Even if you all have busy schedules, there is always time to start self-care resolutions. The emotional health and health benefits in general that come from even just a small change is massive. Creating a list of resolutions and effective ways to take on the new year is a great place to start for the whole family. I am constantly on the go and routine is important with raising kids. So I’ve pulled together some less time consuming goals and tools to help achieve better self care.

Getting all my greens in:

This sounds simple but it’s not the easiest thing to get all of the veggies and fruits needed in a day. One way I plan on working on this is by making either smoothies or juices that I can easily look forward to each day. For smoothies, I like to freeze all the ingredients together in little bags to pop into the blender in the morning. Or for juicing, you can prep it on Sundays to enjoy all week long. My energy levels are ways improved when I a taking that first step and getting my nutrients in.

Vitamins:

For any gaps in my diet, I look to balancing them out with vitamins. I am the best version of myself when I am taking the best care of myself. I suggest connecting with your doctor on good health goals, especially when it comes to supplementing. The importance of self-care is in prioritizing your needs and your body needs go right along with mental well-being. Never underestimate how much a balance of vitamins in your system can help.

Hydration:

This sounds so simple but I know I can’t be the only one with self care goals to drink more water? It’s a measurable goal and when it comes to setting the tone for the year, I only want achievable goals. Nothing that I can hyper fixate on and get stressed out by. This is all about a self-care routine, not ways we can stress. Sometimes I make it through the day and realize I haven’t even had water, so one way to combat this is by getting water bottles I like using and measuring goals with daily intake from there.

Fitness:

Self-care means prioritizing your well being. Fitness can look different for everyone. For some it might be a daily walk, for others it could be pilates or HIIT classes. That’s the great thing about it, it never needs to be the same and it can be whatever you’d like! Even twenty minutes of exercise can be so good for you and your personal goals. Good habits are created through repetition, so the more you do something, the more you can look forward to it and not even maybe realize it’s difficult.

Getting organized with a good planner:

We see so many planners for the new year and feel like there are a ton that are overrated. As a busy mom to three teens, we have more specific needs than we did when the kids were really little. I personally need different sections in a planner to organize by kid and then my work stuff on top of that. So a planner that has space and different spots to include everything for daily life will create a solid foundation for the new year to begin with. I even like to write career goals to my future self for the year to get a clear vision and manifest! Daily decisions can lead the way to large changes. If you need a vision board in your planner for a better vision for 2026, then try that!

Reading:

Finally, this is something that also only requires ten minutes a day if that’s all you have! Reading is so good for relaxation and can really help wind you down from a long day. I do this before bed and find it helps me to stay in the present moment more and when I’m relaxed, my house runs smoother.
