One of the questions I’ve regularly gotten over the years is, “how do I look more polished?”
I have three really simple tips:
- Always steam your clothes. Steamers have gotten so powerful and so quick to warm up that it takes literally minutes to steam an entire garment, and your clothes look SO much more presentable that way. I’ve tried many, many steamers over the years and the one I use right now is under $50 (plus it is dual-voltage for international travel). It’s taken the place of my larger Rowenta steamer at home because it’s more lightweight too!
- Loosen up. If there’s any tugging on your clothing, it just means it’s a little too tight. When in doubt, size up on your clothing. I like clothes to graze my body and not feel like it’s tight. Bonus: it’s much more comfortable that way! PS: Find a good tailor for alterations that can give you the perfect fit.
- Wear only the highest heels that you can comfortably walk in. Polish isn’t just about what you’re wearing but also about how you’re carrying yourself. And if you can’t walk in those heels, you’re definitely not going to look polished. Flats and kitten heels are a good alternative and chic!
