Postcards From Barcelona | Stroller in the City
Barcelona was one of those trips that instantly felt special for our family—a city that balances history, art, food, and fun in a way that keeps everyone engaged. From the moment we arrived, the energy was infectious, and it never once felt overwhelming. Every day offered something new, whether it was wandering centuries-old streets, tasting our way through local markets, or seeing the city from entirely new perspectives.
We stayed at the Cotton House Hotel, which quickly became a favorite part of the trip. The hotel felt elegant yet welcoming, with a warmth that made it easy to settle in after long days of exploring. Its central location made getting around effortless, and it was the perfect home base for both early mornings and relaxed evenings together as a family.

Paella Cooking Class
One of the most memorable experiences was a paella cooking class with The Paella Club, which was truly incredible. Learning the history behind the dish, shopping for ingredients, and then cooking together made it feel so much more meaningful than simply ordering it at a restaurant. Sitting down to enjoy the paella we made ourselves was a highlight—one of those moments that felt both cultural and deeply connective. This might have been our favorite part of the trip and I highly recommend!

Sagrada Familia
Sightseeing in Barcelona was nothing short of magical. Touring the Sagrada Família was an unforgettable experience, with its towering spires and breathtaking interior unlike anything else we’ve seen. The light streaming through the colorful stained glass fills the space with a sense of awe and wonder. Seeing Gaudí’s vision up close truly highlights why this landmark is the heart of Barcelona.

Favorite Restaurants:
Bar Canete, La Barceloneta, 7 Portes, Moridisco, Boca Grande, Botafumeiro
Palacio de Guadi
Touring Palacio de Gaudí and Park Güell felt like stepping into Antoni Gaudí’s imaginative world, where architecture and nature intertwine in the most magical way. The palace dazzled with its whimsical shapes, intricate mosaics, and sweeping views over the city, while Park Güell’s vibrant terraces, colorful ceramic benches, and playful sculptures made every stroll feel like exploring a living work of art. Together, these iconic sites showcase Gaudí’s genius and his lasting influence on Barcelona’s landscape.

Picasso Museum
The Picasso Museum in Barcelona offers an intimate look at the artist’s early years and deep connection to the city. Set inside a group of medieval palaces in the El Born neighborhood, the museum highlights Picasso’s evolution through sketches, paintings, and ceramics, including his famous Las Meninas series. It’s a fascinating stop that brings you closer to the beginnings of one of the world’s most influential artists.

Markets
Barcelona’s food scene truly comes alive in its markets and food halls, where vibrant colors, local flavors, and everyday life blend together. We wandered through the Gothic Quarter, getting lost in its narrow streets, and stopped at La Boqueria Market, where the colors, scents, and energy were an experience all on their own. From the buzz of La Boqueria with its fresh fruit, seafood, and tapas counters to the more neighborhood feel of smaller local markets, wandering through these spaces feels like a cultural experience as much as a culinary one. We also loved El Nacional, a stunning, beautifully designed food hall with multiple restaurants under one roof, offering everything from classic tapas and seafood to charcuterie and sweets—perfect for tasting a little bit of everything in one memorable stop.

Barcelona Cathedral
Barcelona Cathedral, located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, is a stunning example of Gothic architecture with soaring ceilings, intricate details, and a peaceful cloister. Stepping inside feels like a quiet escape from the busy streets outside, offering a glimpse into the city’s rich history. The surrounding square adds to the charm, making it a beautiful place to pause and take it all in.

Barcelona Marina
Barcelona Marina, set along the city’s sparkling Mediterranean waterfront, offers a relaxed yet vibrant escape with beautiful views of the harbor and skyline. Strolling along the marina, you’re surrounded by luxury yachts, palm-lined promenades, and an easy coastal energy that perfectly balances the buzz of the city. With waterfront restaurants, cafés, and close proximity to the beach, it’s an ideal spot to slow down, take in the sea air, and experience Barcelona from a more laid-back, scenic perspective.

Barcelona truly delivered something for everyone in our family. It was enriching, delicious, inspiring, and fun—all at once. The kind of trip that leaves you already dreaming about when you’ll return.
